Why are Minerals the Key to a Healthy Life?
Minerals are the key to a healthy Life! Taking a high-quality mineral supplement is crucial for easy absorption. In this blog post, I will share my story of how I found a great source of minerals, explain the various types of minerals, and highlight the additional benefits of Plant Derived Minerals.
Growing Up
If people asked me about the importance of minerals during my teens to forties, I would respond, “I don’t know.” I was barely a “Flintstone Vitamin” child. Nowadays, adults think that taking a multivitamin like “1 a day” is good for them. However, good nutritional supplementation is so much more than that.
My Transformational Story

During my weight loss journey, I learned the importance of high-quality vitamins and mineral supplements. I was taking stuff from GNC. vitamin shop and a health food store “Mother’s Market.” I was cherry-picking what I thought I needed. I did not notice any benefits from them. Fortunately, I stumbled upon a fantastic solution of minerals, vitamins, and essential fatty acids that made me feel so much better.
New Supplement Plan Gave Me Energy
After releasing my first 50 lbs. on my weight loss journey, I felt dead tired. I would go to bed at 8:30 pm every night. After finishing the old supplementation, I decided to try this new supplement plan. Within 4 days I noticed a sense of natural energy. I started to feel better, sleeping better, and staying up to 10 pm.
My Foot Felt Better
As time went on, I realized that chronic foot pain that had for years was beginning to subside. This allowed me to increase my exercise routine from walking on a treadmill 40 to 50 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week to running over time. After completing my first 40-50 minute run on a treadmill, I felt great. A running friend said that treadmill running is not the same as actual running. She invited me to run with her. Eventually, she asked me to do half-marathon with her. I thought it was crazy. At the age of 51, I did my first my first the half-marathon and finished before she did.
My health transformation and newfound natural energy made me feel so much better. I am grateful to find the 90 essential nutrients that include 60 plant derived minerals, 16 vitamins, 12 amino acids and 3 essential fatty acids. It made a big difference for my health and I kept my weight off for over 9 years.
Not All Minerals Are Created Equal
In recent years, I learned that not all “minerals or supplements are created equal.” There are three types of minerals: metallic minerals, chelated minerals, and plant derived minerals. They all have different efficiencies.
Metallic Minerals
Metallic minerals are minerals that you get from rocks. Our bodies are not designed to consume this type of form. We can only assimilate 8% of them. The rest is stored in our fats, which can be toxic to us.
Chelated Minerals
Chelated minerals are metallic minerals that are coated with proteins and amino acids. Proteins get broken down to amino acids. The amino acid is how these minerals get absorb and pass through the cells of our digestive system, ultimately entering our bloodstream. These manufactured minerals can absorb better. Their absorbability is 30%.
Plant Derived Minerals
The final type is the Plant Derived Minerals that is hydrophilic and 98% bioavailable. We can absorb them better because, in a way, the plants have already done the digesting for us, so they are assimilated easier into our bodies.
Why are Plant Derived Minerals so Different?
The Plant Derived Minerals I have access to are unique because they come from prehistoric plants. Plants don’t produce minerals by themselves. They absorb minerals from the soil through their root system. Naturally, plant’s roots seek and want water. When they find hydrophilic soil rich in minerals, they take up minerals into the plant. In our case, the minerals are obtained from prehistoric plant matter that Youngevity mines. These plant derived minerals are 200 – 2000% smaller than metallic minerals, making them assimilate easily into our body’s cells. Additionally, these minerals are water-soluble and easily dissolve without digestion.
What are Macro Minerals?
Since I mentioned how small plant derived metallic minerals are, here are some concepts to understand.
Macro means large in Greek. Macro metallic minerals are calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, sulfur, and chloride. Their molecules are larger molecules. With regular metallic minerals, they “fight” in a way to get through the cell wall or digestive wall. Due to their size, regular metallic minerals can create a bottleneck, resulting in lower absorption rates of about 8%. However, Plant Derived metallic minerals, being significantly smaller, can easily assimilate into cells at an impressive rate of 98%
Curious about Trace Minerals?
Trace minerals are very small. They are micro, which means “small” in Greek. They are important. If you don’t get trace minerals, diseases may happen. Trace minerals are iron, manganese, copper, iodine, zinc, cobalt, fluoride, and selenium.
One of the great aspects of Youngevity’s colloidal minerals is that they include these essential trace minerals. Additionally, due to the plant’s processing of these minerals, they are incredibly small, facilitating their absorption which ensures these colloidal nature are safe to consume.
Lack of Minerals in Our Farmlands
Our biggest problem is minerals are not in our farmlands today. Due to various reasons, such as the lack of crop rotation and the damming of waterways, our soils are deprived of minerals. By the way, soil throughout the world varies in mineral content. It is a problem for our produce and our animals because they cannot absorb minerals that are not there.

A recent study revealed a significant decline in our produce about 70-80 percent in nutritional value. Consequently, our bodies suffer from nutrition deficiencies, making our bodies like “Swiss Cheese.” Knowing this, the key to good health is high-quality supplementation. According to Dr. Joel Wallach, diseases can arise in the absence of adequate nutrients, and he has dedicated his life to proving this point. To learn more about his groundbreaking research, I encourage you to watch this informative video on him.
Colloidal Plant Derived Minerals

I’ve mentioned colloidal minerals earlier, but there are a few more key points to understand. Firstly, colloidal minerals are distinctive because they are encapsulated by humic shale, a protective layer formed from prehistoric plant matter. This unique composition allows the minerals to be suspended in hydrophilic soil, which is abundant in plant-processed minerals.
These types of minerals have a negative charge, so they work perfectly as co-factors with other minerals and vitamins, making them more absorbable and useful for our bodies. For example, negatively charged Calcium & Magnesium helps our body to absorb vitamin D. In addition, these minerals balance your body’s pH and give you natural energy and other health benefits. Watch this Mineral Mine video see how the minerals are processed other benefits of these minerals.
My Source of High-Quality Supplementation
I have access to Youngevity’s 90 for life. It is a product that has 60 minerals, 16 vitamins, 12 amino acids and 3 essential fatty acids. There are many variations. Youngevity mines this prehistoric plant matter that contains colloidal plant derived minerals. They purify the colloidal plant derived minerals, and put them in many different products. The products come in various forms: liquid, powder, capsules, and tablets.
Using liquid products is actually the best. If you travel, you can take the powder, capsule, and tablet form with you.
Liquid Plant Derived Mineral Products
I do use plain liquid Plant Derived Minerals. I put them in drinks and shakes. There are actually 100 uses for them other than consumption. I will list a few later. Youngevity gives us choices because everyone is different and people like different types of flavors.
Some of liquids are: Plain Plant Derived Minerals, Strawberry Kiwi Mins, Cheri Mins, (kids love both the Strawberry Kiwi and Cherri Mins), Herbal Rainforest, Ultimate Tangy Tangerine, Ultimate Classic, Womens Fx, and Oxy Body Cherry Berry. Click on the image for more information.
Powder Plant Mineral Derived Products
Power products are great for traveling.
Powder and Capsule Mineral Products
For minerals alone, there is a product, Ultimate Mineral Caps that comes in capsules. They do have other mineral products with co-factors as well. Ask me about them. Mineral STX is a powder that contains collagen too that you add to water. Click on the image for more information.
Powder Whole-body Multi-Vitamin Complex
Beyond Tangy Tangerine 2.0 has minerals in it. It is a whole-body multi-vitamin complex. You add it to water or a juice that you enjoy, such as tomato juice, orange juice or lemon. Lemon will change the taste to be almost like apple flavor. I have added it to shakes and yes, you can put it into smoothies. This product comes in a canister or packet. Plus, they have different flavored ones with various ingredients in them. Beyond Tangy Tangerine 1.0, I feel is sweeter and has less nutrient value. Beyond Tangy Tangerine 2.5 is for those who have problems absorbing folic acid such as MTHFR. Click on the image for more information.
I personally use Healthy Body Start Pak 2.0 that has the complete 90 essential nutrients. (This one has the liquid Beyond Osteo. You can get one that has powder if you prefer.) It has changed my life by giving me natural energy and allowing me to do things I have never done before, as seen in my story.
