Switch to Whole Foods for Better Health
Dr. Joanne Conaway wrote a book called, “Why is America so Sick.” In it she stresses that we need to get away from convenience foods and switch to whole foods for better health.
S.A.D (Standard American Diet)
Dr. Joanne Conaway states that United States is 12th most obese nation in the world, due to our S.A.D, – Standard American Diet. It creates an unhealthy gut. We eat too many carbs from wheat, grains, and sugars from modern, modified, processed foods.
Gluten is a Big Problem
Gluten rich foods are truly a problem. Because she states, we don’t have the digestive enzyme to digest the ancient wheat in the first place. Our modern GMO wheat is a more complex. Consuming gluten triggers inflammation and creates a leaky gut.
Gluten is damaging the villi in our intestines. Villi are like a sea anemone grabbing for nutrients from our foods. When the villi are corrupted, they become shortened with less surface area. They cannot absorb the foods, medication, and supplements that we consume which makes us eat more, need more medication, and supplementation.
Sugar Creates Inflammation
Sugar is another big problem. It ignites inflammation that contributes to a leaky gut. When gut walls are compromised, they allow toxins to flow into the bloodstream and inflammation lands in different body systems. Plus it is obvious, sugar affects blood insulin levels. Sugar that is not burned, turns into fat leading to obesity.
Oils are Another Problem
Oils are processed foods with no value. Once you open a bottle of oil it oxidizes. This oxidation create free radicals that you are consuming. The free radicals are creating inflammation in you body. Cooking with oils make it worse. Over heated oils turns into trans fats according to Cardiologist, Dr. Dwight Lundell. It is extremely important to stay away from fried foods of all kinds. Dr. Lundell gives a lot of interesting insights from his book, “The Cure for Heart Disease – Truth will Save a Nation.” Also check out Ask Jeevers with video Dr. Lundell on my blog.
Butter is Better
Grass Fed Butter is a healthy fat and it is chock full of nutrients such as vitamins and minerals.
Healthline points out multiple benefits of Grass Fed Butter:
- Rich in vitamin A, an important fat-soluble vitamin. Your body cannot make it, so it must be included in your diet.
- Contains a higher proportion of healthy unsaturated fatty acids
- Higher in omega-3 fatty acids. These are thought to have anti-inflammatory properties and have been linked to many health benefits
- Has 500% more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) than regular dairy butter
- Believed to be much richer in vitamin K2, which plays an important for overall health including bone and heart health
- Rich in Beta Carotene that is well-known and potent antioxidant that defends your cells from potential damage caused by unstable molecules called free radicals.
- High in unsaturated fatty acids that include monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats which are beneficial for heart health.
It is best to cook with grass fed butter at a low heat so it does not burn.
Toxins are Troublesome
Pesticides are harming people. They have been linked to multiple diseases. According to Healthline, pesticide exposure is linked to Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and certain types of cancer. Females exposed to organophosphates was linked to a significantly higher risk for hormone-related cancers, such as breast, thyroid, and ovarian cancer and more. So eating organic is important.
Once you consume toxins they become a part of you. They are often stored in fat. That is why so many people detox. Toxins stored in fats can cause hormone problems. Another reason to release weight.
Stay Away from Certain Foods
According to Anthony G. Jay, Ph.D. who wrote “ESTROGENERATION, How Estrogenics Are Making You Fat, Sick, and Infertile,” there are certain foods to stay away from that will make you fat and create hormone problems. I am only going to mention Flax Seed and Soy. They both can mimic estrogen and create a hormone imbalance. Excess hormones will be store in fat. Making it difficult to lose weight and to conceive. Watch what you consume.
With Processed and Convenience Foods You Have no Control
Convenience foods truly harm your health. First, you don’t know how the foods are cooked. You don’t know their ingredients which is why so many people have allergy problems. You already learned that foods with gluten, sugar and cooked in oils are problematic. We don’t know if the quality of the produce or meats are either. All of these problems and can create a cascade of diseases other than weight gain and who knows what else.
Switch to Clean Diet Whole Foods Diet
It is safer to prepare your own meals. Creating a clean diet with whole foods that you select will give you a clean whole food diet that is important. Your body will be “humming” again. A Whole Foods Diet obviously is a diet that is more toxic free than convenient foods. It includes GMO free, gluten-free, organic (no toxins or pesticides) produce and proteins such as Grass Fed Beef, Pasture Raise Chickens, and Wild Caught Salmon.

Micronutrients are Important
Even eating these foods, your diet is not complete. Produce and proteins have declined in 70-80% in nutritional value for over 40 years. Mostly due to over farming and damning of our water ways. Minerals are not in our soils, so it is not our produce. If minerals are not in our soils our farm animals who eat grass are not getting the right amounts nutrients either.
Supplementation that are micronutrients are crucial and a necessity. Using a high quality supplementation program is a key to good health. The Healthy Body Start Pak known as 90 for Life is 98% bioavailable and has helped me and millions of others. Ask me more about it.
Don’t forget to pay attention to your carbs count. Too many carbs will make it difficult to release weight no matter what.😉
